The fourth competition of the 2011 Master Angler competition brought us to Ballyvaldon.
Conditions were great for a day on the beach but unfortunately not what is required for good fishing at this venue. 12 senior anglers 4 junior anglers with sun cream and cold drinks were greeted by flat calm conditions a though day on the fishing front was in store.
Fishing started very slow and after the first there were no fish on the beach but plenty of crabs with most hooks returning to the beach bare Into the second hour and a fish was landed by Adam O'Neill a small flounder it was game on but the fishing remained very slow and going into the last hour of competition the fish finally started to feed. At lines up there were a few blanks recorded on a tough afternoon and with only 23 fish landed for 16 anglers. The winner emerged as Adam O'Neill who managed to pull 6 fish from the lifeless sea with Tony O'Farrell coming in second place with 4 fish. Unfortunately six anglers blanked on the tough fishing afternoon.
The juniors section won by Gary Breen with a single fish with all of the other juniors failing to record a fish.
